FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

GENERAL QUESTIONS

What is your turnaround time?
Accent and table lamps ship in less than one week.  Floor screens and floor lamps are built to order and ship in two weeks.  Custom products vary depending on the project size, but generally take 4-6 weeks from concept to shipment.

Are there discounts to the trade?
Yes.  Interior Designers and Architects receive a discount.  Please contact us for additional information.

How does shipping work?
We usually ship UPS ground, but can ship other methods by request.  Next day shipping is possible on smaller pieces, but usually very expensive.  Stock product has fixed shipping costs (for example $9 for accent lamps).  You will receive an email with tracking number and shipping information when the product ships.

Can orders ship outside USA?
Yes, we ship internationally.  Payment is by credit card or PayPal, before shipment.

What is your return policy?
For stock product, we give full credit if the product is returned within 30 days, undamaged, including credit for return shipping. Refunds will be made in the same manner payment was rendered.  Call us for an RMA number and shipping instructions.

Custom product cannot be returned.  If you are unhappy with the final result, give us a call.  We will fix or replace defects and our mistakes, and will work with you for problems outside our control such as incorrect measurements.

How does payment work?
We accept credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover) and PayPal.  For stock product, your credit card will be charged shortly before shipment.  For custom jobs, you will be charged when we begin work.

What is your privacy policy?
We do not share customer information with other companies.  Periodically we send emails about new products and promotions (maximum of six per year).  You can unsubscribe to the list.

PRODUCTS

What wood do you use?
Lamps and floor screens are made of wood panels, 1/4" thick.  The panel has a wood veneer on the outside, and an MDF core on the inside to prevent warping.  We use four different wood types—Cherry, Maple, Dark Walnut and "Mahogany".  The Cherry, Maple and Dark Walnut veneers are real hardwood from farmed domestic sources.  The "Mahogany" veneer is a green, engineered product.  Fast growing woods such as basswood are cut into thin pieces, stained, glued into a block, and cut again to make the veneer.  The result is a beautiful product that is good for the environment.

What is MDF?
MDF is similar to particle board—it is recycled from scrap wood that would otherwise be discarded during the process of making conventional lumber.  The scrap is ground up and mixed with an adhesive, and then heated and pressed together to make MDF.  The MDF used in our Cherry and Maple veneer products is low formaldehyde.  We use formaldehyde free MDF in our  Mahogany veneer product.  All MDF will be converted to formaldehyde free MDF during the next few months.

What type of bulb is used?
We only use compact fluorescent screw in bulbs.  The lighting has been carefully designed to be energy efficient and attractive.  The bulbs are flicker free and produce warm light.  Accent lamps use 9 watt bulbs, table lamps use 13 watt bulbs, and floor lamps use 6 or 8 bulbs, 9 watts each.  The bulbs are rated for 10,000 hours, and we sell replacement bulbs if you can't find the right bulb locally.

How should I use the lamp?
Our lamps are designed to create ambiance, as accent or mood lighting. They are not reading lamps, but are an additional source of light. The accent lamps are most commonly used on nightstands, in rooms with TV's, and on desks at home and work.  The floor lamps add ambient lighting to a room, and can be a decorative focus of the room.
